The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class The legend on the Schöckl: More control, more comfort

Every G-Class has to conquer the Schöckl. Mercedes-Benz uses the 1,445 metre high local mountain near the Austrian city of Graz as a test track. The 5.6 km route includes gradients of up to 60 percent and lateral inclinations of up to 40 percent. During the development stage, a “G” has to endure a good 2,000 strenuous kilometres on this very demanding course. The new G-Class masters the route with noticeably more control and comfort.
The primary goal of development was to make the new G-Class even more effective off-road. The G thus remains a true G – thanks to its standard ladder-type frame, the three 100-percent differential locks and LOW RANGE off-road ratio. Its suspension is the result of collaboration between Mercedes-Benz G GmbH and Mercedes-AMG GmbH. The result is an independent suspension with double-wishbone front axle in combination with a rigid rear axle. During development work, the engineers had the task of fighting for every millimetre, because off-road capability also means maximum ground clearance. The raised axle with independent suspension decisively contributes to this, and additionally increases the stiffness of the body with a strut brace.

World’s first full service Mercedes-AMG dealership opens in Sydney

Sydney – Mercedes-AMG has this week opened a stunning new stand-alone, full-service showroom to showcase its performance vehicle range in Sydney. To be known as AMG Sydney, it is the first dedicated sales-and-service showroom for Mercedes-AMG vehicles in the world, and just the second stand-alone AMG showroom along with a facility opened in Tokyo earlier this year.

The new showroom represents the sports car and performance brand in a discrete architecture for the first time in Australia, and will present customers with an immersive yet approachable brand experience.

Prominently positioned adjacent to the Kingsford Smith Airport domestic terminals, it is well placed to capitalise on the strategic expansion of the Mercedes-AMG product range in recent years and marks another milestone in the performance brand’s sales strategy.

Mercedes-AMG understands the passion Australians have for the performance brand, says Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes AMG GmbH.

Electric trucks for BMW Group Plant Munich: 100% electric, clean and quiet – BMW Group, ARS Altmann AG and SCHERM Group put two new e-trucks into service

A total of three e-trucks now traveling the streets of Munich for the plant’s production Savings of approx. 82 tons of CO2 thanks to use of electric trucks

Munich. As of now, three electric trucks are part of the logistics operations of the BMW Group’s home plant. What began when the first 40-ton electric truck was put into service by the Munich plant in 2015 has now been taken to the next level. Through the use of these e-trucks, the company reduces CO2 emissions by approx. 82 tons annually. All three trucks are used on public roads in the Greater Munich area.

With its first e-truck, logistics service provider ARS Altmann AG transports new cars on a 15-kilometer route through Munich: on its way from the town of Garching north of the city to the BMW Welt, the truck is loaded with vehicles to be handed over to customers; on the way back, it transports finished vehicles from the BMW plant, which will later be dispatched from the Garching site to the European sales network. A special feature of the new e-truck is its covered semitrailer.

The new BMW M4 CS

Sporting appeal and emotional richness running through every vein.

High performance for the road, redefined.

The BMW M4 states its case as a compact high-performance coupe, the optional Competition Package gives it an extra edge, and the M4 GTS is an uncompromising sports car also designed for use on the track. And now the new limited-run special-edition BMW M4 CS fills the gap between its BMW M GmbH stablemates. With its eye-catching, emotionally powerful looks, it also raises the profile of the M4 range – and, by extension, the BMW M brand – another notch.

A new model-specific front splitter in exposed carbon fibre defines the face of the new BMW M4 CS, which cuts an unquestionably dominant and dynamic figure even when standing still. The car’s athletic lines extend along the CFRP bonnet and powerdome, over the roof – with its shallow central channel – and the new, likewise carbon-fibre spoiler lip on the boot lid, to the rear diffuser and its four exhaust tailpipes, integrated with impeccable stylistic fluency. The shape of the M4 CS appears as if cut from a single mould, underlining the design aspirations of the modern sports coupe.

Solid Top 10 start for BMW Team SRM at Albert Park

BMW Team SRM kicked off the second round of the Australian GT Championship with a solid eighth place for Steve Richards and the BMW M6 GT3 at Albert Park.

Richards put in a blinder of a qualifying lap earlier today to secure fifth spot on the grid for today’s opening race, although some confusion at the start of the 25-minute opener saw him drop down several spots on the first lap.

He fought back, though, ultimately finding himself locked in a tense battle with Lewis Williamson. In the end Richards came home eighth to cap off a promising opening day at Albert Park.

“We qualified really well. I think we probably got a bit more out of the car than some of the guys around us did,” said Richards.

Falken Porsche and BMW to tackle the 24 Hours Nürburgring

In this year’s race season, Falken will line up on the grid with not one, but two cars from premium German manufacturers. Last year saw the debut of the Falken Porsche 911 GT3 R, which scooped the title of fastest Porsche in the 24 Hours Nürburgring and finished in 9th place overall. This season, it will be joined by an all-new Falken BMW M6 GT3 – the first time Falken has fielded two vehicles in motorsport.

Falken will enter both cars in various VLN endurance races as well as the legendary 24-hour race at Nürburgring. Campaigning two separate current-specification GT3 vehicles validates the confidence Falken has its tyres and engineering.

The BMW will be in the hands of two Falken drivers; Peter Dumbreck, this year celebrating ten years as part of the Falken team, and Alexandre Imperatori. The Porsche will be driven by Martin Ragginger and Porsche-works drivers Jörg Bergmeister, Dirk Werner and Laurens Vanthoor.
