Every G-Class has to conquer the Schöckl. Mercedes-Benz uses the 1,445 metre high local mountain near the Austrian city of Graz as a test track. The 5.6 km route includes gradients of up to 60 percent and lateral inclinations of up to 40 percent. During the development stage, a “G” has to endure a good 2,000 strenuous kilometres on this very demanding course. The new G-Class masters the route with noticeably more control and comfort.
The primary goal of development was to make the new G-Class even more effective off-road. The G thus remains a true G – thanks to its standard ladder-type frame, the three 100-percent differential locks and LOW RANGE off-road ratio. Its suspension is the result of collaboration between Mercedes-Benz G GmbH and Mercedes-AMG GmbH. The result is an independent suspension with double-wishbone front axle in combination with a rigid rear axle. During development work, the engineers had the task of fighting for every millimetre, because off-road capability also means maximum ground clearance. The raised axle with independent suspension decisively contributes to this, and additionally increases the stiffness of the body with a strut brace.

Sydney – Mercedes-AMG has this week opened a stunning new stand-alone, full-service showroom to showcase its performance vehicle range in Sydney. To be known as AMG Sydney, it is the first dedicated sales-and-service showroom for Mercedes-AMG vehicles in the world, and just the second stand-alone AMG showroom along with a facility opened in Tokyo earlier this year.
The new showroom represents the sports car and performance brand in a discrete architecture for the first time in Australia, and will present customers with an immersive yet approachable brand experience.
Prominently positioned adjacent to the Kingsford Smith Airport domestic terminals, it is well placed to capitalise on the strategic expansion of the Mercedes-AMG product range in recent years and marks another milestone in the performance brand’s sales strategy.
Mercedes-AMG understands the passion Australians have for the performance brand, says Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes AMG GmbH.
“We are very proud to open our second stand-alone store here in Sydney. It is a great chance to underline the importance of the Australian market to our brand and to ensure that our customers can experience the AMG spirit as well as the ideal service for their car – everything of course Affalterbach approved.”

A total of three e-trucks now traveling the streets of Munich for the plant’s production Savings of approx. 82 tons of CO2 thanks to use of electric trucks
Munich. As of now, three electric trucks are part of the logistics operations of the BMW Group’s home plant. What began when the first 40-ton electric truck was put into service by the Munich plant in 2015 has now been taken to the next level. Through the use of these e-trucks, the company reduces CO2 emissions by approx. 82 tons annually. All three trucks are used on public roads in the Greater Munich area.
With its first e-truck, logistics service provider ARS Altmann AG transports new cars on a 15-kilometer route through Munich: on its way from the town of Garching north of the city to the BMW Welt, the truck is loaded with vehicles to be handed over to customers; on the way back, it transports finished vehicles from the BMW plant, which will later be dispatched from the Garching site to the European sales network. A special feature of the new e-truck is its covered semitrailer.
