The new Audi RS 5 Coupé is presented at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show

  • Gran turismo combines aesthetics and everyday usability
  • Powerful and efficient V6 biturbo with 600 Nm of torque
  • Audi Sport boss Winkelmann: “More performance coupled with greater efficiency”

Ingolstadt/Geneva, March 7, 2017 – The new Audi RS 5 Coupé is the first Audi Sport model in the new RS design idiom. The car’s all-new 2.9 TFSI biturbo engine produces 331 kW and delivers 600 Nm of torque. Standard quattro drive distributes the power to all four wheels.

“The new Audi RS 5 Coupé is the gran turismo among the RS models from Audi Sport,” said Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Audi Sport GmbH, in describing the new model.

“The high-performance Coupé combines elegant aesthetics with excellent everyday usability. The car’s V6 biturbo has been developed from the ground up and provides significantly more performance coupled with higher efficiency,” said Mr Winkelmann.

The designers drew inspiration for the RS 5 Coupé from the distinctive racing details of the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO. Massive air inlets with the honeycomb structure typical of RS models characterise the front end of the new Audi RS 5 Coupé. The Singleframe radiator grille is much wider and flatter than in the base model. Next to the headlights are additional lateral air intakes and outlets; tinted bezels differentiate the optional Matrix LED headlights. quattro blisters on the flanks emphasize the pronounced bulges over the wheel arches, which have been widened by 15 millimetres.

From the October 1991 issue of Road & Track

The German town of Hockenheim is perfect for comparison tests. In addition to having one of R&T European Editor Paul Frere’s favorite Greek restaurants—essential for discussing the cars after a good day of driving-it also affords access to the freedom of Autobahnen, the beauty of country roads and the majesty of Hockenheimring, a world-class race circuit nestled in the woods.

From Ingolstadt, Munich and Stuttgart we gathered an Audi Coupe S2, a BMW M3 Sport Evolution and a Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II and lined them up, toe to toe and tire to tire, in and around Hockenheim. There could be no more fitting a place for these three makes to square off than Hockenheim. After all, full-on race versions of the BMW M3. Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 and Audi V8 have been chasing each other around Hockenheimring, Nurburgring and other tracks and street circuits all year in pursuit of the victor’s trophy in the Group A German Touring Car Championship.

Australia, March 16, 2016 – The highly successful second- generation Audi Q7 range has expanded with the arrival of a new 3.0 TDI 160kW model that is priced at $96,300.

“Since the first customer deliveries in September last year, the all-new Audi Q7 has made an extraordinary impact on the large premium luxury SUV segment,” said Andrew Doyle, Managing Director of Audi Australia Pty Ltd.

Pure power: the Audi RS Q3 performance

  • New top model with more power and exclusive equipment
  • Award-winning five-cylinder with 270 kW
  • RS Q3 performance to arrive in Australia before the end of 2016

Ingolstadt, 5 February, 2016 – Audi is igniting the next stage of performance in the compact, high-performance SUV segment. The Audi RS Q3 performance impresses with an output of 270 kW and 465 Nm of torque. This incredible power catapults the new top-of-the-line model from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. Standard top speed is 270 km/h.

The premium brand is honing its sporty profile with new RS performance models. The “performance” in the name stands for both a significant power boost and exclusive equipment that clearly elevates the respective model above the rest of the portfolio. This also applies to the new RS Q3 performance, whose pulse is driven by the legendary Audi five-cylinder engine. Since 2010, an international panel of automotive journalists has named the 2.5 TFSI “International Engine of the Year” in its category six years in a row. With its pulling power, free-revving character and inimitable sound, goosebumps are guaranteed.

Compared with the RS Q3, Audi has bumped up the output of the 2.5 TFSI engine for the performance model. The developers increased the cooling capacity of the main radiator and optimised the fuel pump to give the five-cylinder turbo in the RS Q3 performance 20 kW more power. Peak torque of 465 Nm is available between 1,625 and 5,550 rpm. The sporty, compact SUV thus accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 270 km/h. Combined NEDC fuel consumption is 8.6 litres per 100 km, corresponding to 203 grams CO2 per km.
