Volvo Cars reveals stylish and versatile new V90

The eagerly awaited Volvo V90 was revealed today in Stockholm, Sweden. The stylish and versatile V90 is the latest in the premium car maker’s top of the line 90 series sitting alongside the award winning XC90 SUV and the recently launched S90 premium sedan.

Building on Volvo Cars’ indisputable heritage in the estate segment, that began over 60 years ago with the Volvo Duett, the new V90 takes the premium estate a clear step forward in terms of aesthetics, materials and finish, while living up to the ultimately practical nature of any true estate “We have a very strong position in the estate segment,” said Kevin McCann, managing director of Volvo Car Australia. “In many people’s minds we are known as the definitive estate brand. While the Volvo brand today stands for more than estates, we are proud to carry forward this rich heritage with the V90.”

The new V90 is the third car unveiled in Volvo’s top of the line 90 series, all of which are built on the company’s specially designed and fully modular Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), which has opened up a range of new opportunities in terms of how Volvos can be designed, built and equipped.

New Volvo S90 marks a giant step forward in prestige sedan segment

The new Volvo S90 is Volvo Cars’ entry ticket to the prestige sedan club.
The S90 marks a giant step forward for Volvo Cars. The Swedish car maker is better known for its SUVs and estates, but with the launch of the S90 Volvo is clearly intent on shaking up the prestige sedan segment with its distinctive executive class sedan.

Equipped with a host of new technologies ranging from cutting edge safety to cloud-based apps and services, the S90 is further proof of the Swedish brand’s continuing transformation.

“With the launch of the XC90 we made a clear statement of intent. We are now clearly and firmly in the prestige segment,” said Kevin McCann, Managing Director of Volvo Car Australia. .
“With $11 USD billion of investment over the past five years we have not only reimagined what Volvo Cars can be – we are now delivering on our promise of a resurgent and relevant Volvo Cars brand.”

Triple podium for Scott McLaughlin and Volvo at Phillip Island

Scott McLaughlin claimed a triple podium finish for Volvo Polestar Racing at the Phillip Island Super Sprint.

”It has been an awesome weekend. Our pace has been great and this is really something for us to build on ahead of 2016,” said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin qualified on pole position for the second race and was entangled in a fight for the lead in all three races with Red Bull Racing team mates Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup.

The first race saw the Kiwi young-gun take third position, behind Lowndes and Whincup. In race two McLaughlin took second place in the Volvo S60 crossing the line just 1.3 seconds behind reigning champion Whincup.

McLaughlin started from fourth position on the grid for the final race. Making a strong start he claimed the lead not long into the race putting the Volvo eight seconds clear of Lowndes Red Bull Holden. A delay in the final pit stop however saw him dropping one place to Lowndes, taking the chequered flag just two seconds behind the triple eight car. Volvo Cars unveils Concept 26, delivering the luxury of time

Volvo Cars’ ongoing research into autonomous driving has confirmed what we all know – that the daily commute is taking the joy out of driving. It is during the commute and on long-haul motorway trips that people are most willing to delegate the act of driving to their car.

With this in mind Volvo has developed Concept 26, named to reflect the average daily commute to work of 26 minutes – time that could be spent doing something more meaningful than sitting in stop-go traffic. Volvo has set out to bring choice and freedom back to the driver; to enjoy the driving experience when they want to, or to delegate driving to the car when they want to do something else.
