Munich. BMW regularly presents limited special series of particularly dynamic vehicles so as to sharpen the brand core: Sheer Driving Pleasure. Meanwhile a look ahead to future developments is provided by eye-catching concept cars that reflect the essence of the brand’s pure DNA. The public response to both is reflected in the result of this year’s readers’ vote organised by the magazine “Auto Bild Sportscars”. In two rating categories, readers voted BMW Group models “2015 Sports Car of the Year”: the “Serial Production Coupés” class was won by new BMW M4 GTS, while in the “Concept Cars” category, the BMW 3.0 CSL Homage was able to attract the majority of votes.
BMW M4 GTS continues its winning streak.

By winning the “Serial Production Coupés” category, the BMW M4 GTS has built on the success of the BMW M4 Coupé and the BMW 435i Coupé, which were voted Sports Car of the Year in 2014 and 2013 respectively. The BMW M4 GTS underpins its sports car status with a lap time of 7:28 minutes on the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife. This performance is enabled by a three-way coilover suspension specially harmonised for the BMW M4 GTS, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres in the sizes 265/35 R19 at front and 285/30 R20 at rear, intelligent lightweight construction with the use of aluminium, carbon fibre, composite materials and high-strength steels and a high-performance in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology. The 308 GTi will be available in two specifications and with two states of tune; the 184kW 308 GTi 250 will carry a recommended retail price (RRP) of $44,990*, while the 200kW 308 GTi 270 will carry an RRP of $49,990*.
Both vehicles will be available to pre-order from December.
National Marketing Manager for Peugeot Australia, Dimitri Andreatidis, said the 308 GTi brings an iconic badge back to a legendary segment.
“After a decade of absence of the GTi badge from our 3-series hatch models, we return with not one but two models; both developing more power and torque than any model before it,” said Andreatidis.
“The 308 GTi signals more than the relaunch of Peugeot performance product and it signifies the growing importance of Australia for Peugeot, with the vehicle available to limited countries worldwide.
“We are very excited about the return of the GTi badge to the hot hatch segment and believe it will resonate with Australian’s and their appetite for sports and performance product, offering fun, efficient, enjoyable, comfortable and thoroughly engaging drive experience.
“The 308 GTi will certainly give hot hatch customers a reason to look forward to 2016,” said Andreatidis.

Munich/New York. Following commissions by Jenny Holzer (1999), Olafur Elíasson (2007) and Jeff Koons (2010), the BMW Art Car series will now be continued. On the occasion of the series’ 40th anniversary, a jury of distinguished museum directors and curators chose two internationally renowned artists to design one car each. Chinese artist Cao Fei (*1978) and American artist John Baldessari (*1931) will be the youngest and the oldest artist represented in the collection respectively. On November 19 and in the presence of the artists, Ian Robertson, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, announced the collaboration at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York in front of 150 select guests. Both artists will create a BMW M6 GT3 in the coming year. The newly-designed vehicles will then be presented in museums in 2017, while also having to prove themselves on the racetrack. “On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the BMW Art Car Collection, it is time to look ahead. The collection is the embodiment of the cultural commitment of the BMW Group – its vehicles stand for the combination of cutting-edge technology and inspiring art. We are very proud to expand the series with two works by such renowned artists,” said Ian Robertson during the presentation.

”It has been an awesome weekend. Our pace has been great and this is really something for us to build on ahead of 2016,” said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin qualified on pole position for the second race and was entangled in a fight for the lead in all three races with Red Bull Racing team mates Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup.

The first race saw the Kiwi young-gun take third position, behind Lowndes and Whincup. In race two McLaughlin took second place in the Volvo S60 crossing the line just 1.3 seconds behind reigning champion Whincup.

McLaughlin started from fourth position on the grid for the final race. Making a strong start he claimed the lead not long into the race putting the Volvo eight seconds clear of Lowndes Red Bull Holden. A delay in the final pit stop however saw him dropping one place to Lowndes, taking the chequered flag just two seconds behind the triple eight car. Volvo Cars unveils Concept 26, delivering the luxury of time

image132000_b

Volvo Cars’ ongoing research into autonomous driving has confirmed what we all know – that the daily commute is taking the joy out of driving. It is during the commute and on long-haul motorway trips that people are most willing to delegate the act of driving to their car.

With this in mind Volvo has developed Concept 26, named to reflect the average daily commute to work of 26 minutes – time that could be spent doing something more meaningful than sitting in stop-go traffic. Volvo has set out to bring choice and freedom back to the driver; to enjoy the driving experience when they want to, or to delegate driving to the car when they want to do something else.
