  • Progressive technology, sophisticated design and sporty dynamics make the new Q2 a true Audi

Melbourne, 24 February, 2017 – The all-new Audi Q2 has arrived in Australia, the most exciting newcomer in the premium compact SUV segment.

“The highly anticipated all-new Audi Q2 will establish itself as a unique offering in the premium compact SUV segment. It will open up the Audi brand to a new range of young and young-at-heart buyers,” said Andrew Doyle, Managing Director of Audi Australia.

“This new model will exceed customer expectations of how an Audi should look, thanks to its progressive polygonal design language, and what it should offer, thanks to a suite of infotainment and connectivity technologies. We are very pleased to be launching this game-changing vehicle to Australia in such a competitive package.”

The design of the new Audi Q2 gives it a powerful stance. It is angular and edgy when viewed from the front and the large Singleframe grille in octagonal design imbues strength and dynamism. The low roofline is very eye-catching, and descends into a long roof spoiler which is supported by contrasting ‘blades’ at the C pillar. This contrast accentuates the sportiness of the Audi Q2.

The all-new Audi Q2 will be offered initially in two model lines: the 1.4 TFSI design for $41,100* and the 2.0 TDI quattro sport for $47,900*. Both models share the sporty seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.

The entry level 1.4 TFSI model features fuel-saving Cylinder-on-Demand technology that shuts down two of the four cylinders under light throttle loads. It develops 110kW/250Nm and returns frugal fuel efficiency of 5.3 litres per 100km. The 2.0 TDI engine develops 110kW/340Nm, with fuel economy of 5.0 litres per 100km. The 2.0 TDI is offered exclusively with quattro all-wheel drive. A 2.0 TFSI quattro model with 140kW/320Nm will be offered in the second half of 2017.

Even with its highly competitive pricing, the all-new Audi Q2 will be equipped with a generous array of standard features including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), MMI Navigation, bluetooth and smartphone interface, voice control and parking system plus with rear view camera. Automatic air-conditioning with dual-zone climate control, leather-appointed seats, auto-dimming interior mirror, a contrasting C-pillar blade and either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, depending on the model, round out the key highlights. The 2.0 TDI quattro also gains an electric tailgate, sport seats and Audi side assist as standard equipment.

The all-new Q2 has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP rating, with an ANCAP rating pending.

Along with the game-changing Audi ‘virtual cockpit’ and convenient head-up display, the driver assistance systems for the Audi Q2 come directly from the upper luxury classes. The Audi pre sense plus (AEB) system recognises critical situations with other vehicles, as well as pedestrians crossing in front of the vehicle, while driving at speeds of up to 65 km/h. If necessary, Audi pre sense plus can initiate hard braking – to a standstill – at low speeds. Other systems in the line-up include adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, the lane-departure warning system Audi side assist, the lane-keeping assistant Audi active lane assist, and cross-traffic assist rear which supports the driver while reversing out of tight situations.

The Q2 sports the intuitive Multi Media Interface (MMI), an infotainment and navigation system, which can be operated by a rotary/push-button control and a touchpad (on MMI Navigation plus) on the central control element. In addition, the system can be conveniently controlled by voice, known as natural language operation, and the integrated MMI search. Audi Connect will be rolled out across the Q2 range as standard equipment, including Google Earth and Google Search functionality, along with a Wi-Fi hotspot that enables surfing and streaming with mobile devices.

The Q2 fulfills fundamental expectations of an SUV with a seating position that affords excellent visibility, and a large luggage compartment with 405 litres of capacity (or up to 1,050 litres of capacity with rear seats folded down).

The Audi Q2 is as individual as its drivers – inside and out. Further equipment packages, exterior colours and expressive interior trim colours and elements are available, as well as LED interior lighting packages which allow plenty of creative space for personal configuration.

The official on-sale date for the all-new Audi Q2 is February 24.
