The evolution of the MINI range continues with the arrival of the new MINI Clubman.
Introducing a new shooting brake-inspired concept to the premium compact segment, the new Clubman makes considerable advances over its predecessor, offering spaciousness, practicality and trademark MINI driving fun.
Starting from $34,900*, the new MINI Clubman is available in two variants, the three-cylinder, 1.5 litre Cooper and four-cylinder, 2.0 litre Cooper S, with both models accompanied by a raft of features as standard equipment.
General Manager, MINI Australia, Kai Bruesewitz, said the arrival of the versatile new Clubman continues the ongoing renewal of the MINI product range.
“Since 1969, the MINI Clubman has stood alongside our hatch models as an enduring symbol of this famous brand,” Bruesewitz said.
“Significant increases in the levels of standard specification, combined with its versatility, ensure the new MINI Clubman stands as a compelling proposition for buyers who desire functionality, but don’t want to compromise on driving fun.”
While the new Clubman features a distinctive six-door configuration and elongated profile, the vehicle retains the enduring design characteristics which remain integral to the MINI brand, including the front grille, power dome and circular headlights.
A glimpse within the vehicle demonstrates the matured character of the new MINI Clubman, with quality appointments and finishes and a decidedly premium ambience.
Featuring the latest front wheel drive platform, the new MINI Clubman benefits from broader proportions, with the second generation model now longer by 292mm, wider by 117mm and featuring a wheelbase extended by 123mm.
The net outcome of these changes is a more functional interior, delivering increased driver and passenger comfort.
Among the further benefits is greater storage volume, which expands to 360 litres or 1 250 litres when the standard 60 : 40 rear seats are lowered, accessible from its iconic barn doors.
The new MINI Cooper Clubman is powered by a three-cylinder, 1.5 litre MINI TwinPower Turbo engine, generating 100kW at 4,400 rpm and 220Nm at 1,250 rpm.
Consuming 5.4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, the vehicle accelerates from 0-100km/h in 9.1 seconds when equipped with the standard six-speed automatic transmission.
The performance orientated Cooper S Clubman reaches 100km/h from a standing start in 7.1 seconds when paired with the standard eight-speed Sports automatic transmission.
The 2.0 litre engine in the Cooper S produces 141kW at 5,000 rpm and 280Nm of torque at 1,250 rpm.
Equipment levels in the new MINI Clubman underline its evolution, positioning the model to make a statement within its segment.
Both variants are equipped with automatic start/stop function, Servotronic steering, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control including Electronic Differential Lock Control, Forward Collision Warning and six airbags for the driver and front passenger.
Standard reversing cameras with dynamic guidelines and rear Park Distance Control are among the further inclusions, highlighting the innovative active safety systems included in each model.
Alloy wheels, a sports leather multifunction steering wheel, rain sensors and MINI Visual Boost 6.5 inch multimedia interface continue the offerings, earmarking the enhanced value proposition delivered by the new Clubman.
The Cooper S benefits from additional standard equipment, with MINI Driving Modes, Performance Control, Comfort Access with contactless tailgate function, MINI Navigation System, cloth/leather sports seats and John Cooper Works Sports leather steering wheel all included, presenting a compelling offering from $42,900*.
All new MINIs are covered by a three year/unlimited kilometre warranty, while service and selected maintenance costs can now be covered by a single, one-off advance payment with MINI TLC.
TLC offers two packages: MINI TLC Basic provides scheduled servicing cover, while MINI TLC Plus combines scheduled servicing and selected maintenance items.
For just $980, the MINI TLC Basic takes care of scheduled servicing costs for five years or 70,000km, whichever comes first. The MINI TLC plan provides a long term solution enabling cover to be extended and transferred to future vehicle owners before expiry.
